Weekend Wrap Up: Captain America & Slushies!

Hello Lovelies!!

It has been such a crazzzzy weekend but a fun one :)

I worked commencement on Saturday then rushed to make the Mother’s Day banquet with my family. I’m so thankful I have such sweet ladies in my life!

After a yummy lunch and hanging out for awhile, I headed off to Lindy dance class. It was a lot of fun!

Sunday was super busy, running to church with my family. Got to see my little sister and then heading back to my aunt’s house for lunch with the family.

I love how crazy it is when we all get together. Lots of voices, laughs and crazy things nana says.

While I was there Montana texted and asked if I wanted to go to the movies. So I headed out to meet up with him in Camden.

He had been wanting to see Captain America: Civil War and I hadn’t seen it yet.

I was tired so he drove us to the movies. We headed to the Village at Sandhills. Lots of laughing on the way. I didn’t die from his driving haha.

It is so nice to go on dates with a guy to takes care of everything. He bought the tickets, asked what snacks I wanted, and even got me extra butter on the popcorn.

The theatre was really, really small! And I don’t like to feel claustrophobic. You would know the only seat left open were in the middle of the row. I hate having to climb over people..but I did it. We finally sat down and the guy beside me was quite overweight and overflowing onto me. Thankfully, he moved and switched seats with his daughter so he wasn’t touching me anymore…whew!

But then it was tricky. Trying to balance Montana’s drink, my drink, and the popcorn haha. I ended up having to wedge my arm under Montana’s and his poor long legs were sooo cramped.

The movie was really good! I haven’t seen the first of the Captain America movies (judge me…I know!). But I really liked this one! Definitely going to have to watch the others.

After the movie, we headed back to Camden. Montana was really glad I had come to see the movie. I enjoyed being with him. He’s beyond sweet and pays attention to details. He’s always picking on me and it cracks me up because he’s always making me laugh. Apparently, he does it because he likes my smile haha.

When we got back to Camden, he fussed at me for not getting a slushie at the movies. Ummm hello…he remembered slushies are my favorite thing???!! what….who is this guy?

So before I knew it, we were pulling into Sonic for a slushy. I couldn’t believe he’d never been to a Sonic before. I guess they don’t have those in Montana haha.

Sipping on a slushy and watching him inhale a burger, foot long and tater tots was ridiculously fun. I can’t tell you how much I enjoy these little moments. I don’t need fancy dates or expensive trinkets. It’s these little moments of quality time spent together.

He drove me back to my truck and we ended up sitting in his truck just talking for a few more hours. He even called his mom to wish her Happy Mother’s day while I was in the truck (that was a little weird but he wanted to….so who am I to say no haha).

After a few more laughs, he hugged me and we parted ways. I’m looking forward to our next date!

Weekend Wrap Up

Hi Lovelies!

It’s Tuesday but feels like a Monday. I thought I’d catch you up on my lunch break today. I usually go for a run but thought blogging might be a little more fun on this insanely hot day in South Carolina.

This weekend was great. Friday night we had soccer practice at the YMCA. Our sweet little team seemed to have turned into sweet little hooligans! Last week they listened so well..this week they were all over the place. But it was fun!

I had a meeting with the student group I advise afterwards at a local restaurant and it is always such an amazing thing to help inspire the next generation of students. We had a brain storming session about events that they could implement for this semester. Our little group of 15 has grown to nearly 90 this year. It’s going to take a lot of work but I have no doubt they can get things done.

Saturday we slaved away at my house. It’s been crazy hot in SC and we’ve not had any rain for a hot minute. My brother and I got most of my living room painted before we were about to keel over from the heat. Saturday night was a blast :) I headed into town to meet up with Chris, Tom and Michelle for the Lyle Lovett concert. When they said Lyle Lovett and his large band..they weren’t joking! I loooooooved it! Chris was a bit perturbed he was missing his favorite Clemson game (aside from Clemson vs USC) but thankfully Tom helped him out and dvr’d the game. The Lyle crew did not disappoint! A 2.5 hr set with no intermission and enough jokes to keep the audience entertained between songs. It was nice to just sit and be still for 2 hours.

After the show, we headed over to Tom and Michelle’s house to watch the Clemson game. I love hanging out with Chris’ boss and his wife. They are the sweetest couple. Michelle and I have a lot in common so it’s never a struggle to make conversation. We talked remodeling while the boys watched the end of the football game.  I will say that this girl is incredibly glad it’s football season. I love, love, love college football!

It was a really fun, relaxed night with Chris. I had debating giving my ticket to one of our mutual friends but I decided to go to the concert at the last-minute. After last week, I just wasn’t really in the mood to be cute or hangout with a guy…but I’m glad I went.

Sunday was insane. Church was great. The older guys class has challenged the guys in our class to a basketball game and it’s the smack talk of the century. They rolled into our class with an air of confidence and bouncing basketballs. It’s really hilarious to see 40-year-old men talking junk.. Dad took mom and I shopping that afternoon before my study session. I was really disappointed. I usually always find cute clothes at Kohl’s but it’s been a struggle lately. I did snag a gorgeous lavender sweater for fall at a steal of $4 :)

I met up with Paden to study for our grad school class and y’all the boy is a trip. I’m really glad we’re going through this program together. We knocked our homework out fairly quickly..mostly because the library was hot as fire and we were both dying.

Sunday night was the commissioning ceremony for two of my dear friends. God has placed an amazing call on their lives and I’m excited to watch them walk this next road. It was very emotional for me. They’ve become somewhat of mentors to me and I’m going to miss studying the word at their house. I’ve no doubt that God is going to do great things through them. Kamden and I managed to cry through most of the service. When you see a mother sharing her heart and baring her soul it is a movement like none other. Rebecca shared her heart with us..her heart is beautiful and the glory that radiates from her is hard to miss. I couldn’t help but be overwhelmed.

After many tears and hugs for Grant and Rebecca, the girls all headed to Starbucks. It’s somewhat of our Sunday night tradition. We were a bit downtrodden at first..but joyful by the end. We had a pizza and movie night afterwards since the majority of us were off for Labor Day. It was crazy fun..I’d forgotten how nice it is to just chill out and relax. I stay so busy 90% of the time that I miss out on those little moments.

It was a bit scary though. The house where we were had a Cocker Spaniel. During the middle of the movie, I went to close the pizza box and he attacked me. Thankfully, I’ve been around dogs my whole life and knew how to respond..but still scary! Thankfully he didn’t pierce the skin and I was able to subdue him quickly. I got him calmed down and he was fine for the next hour. Close to the end of the movie, he was stretched out beside me. I stretched and hit the pizza box with my foot. Not thinking..and he went straight for my face. THAT WAS SCARY! He’s not a big dog, but large enough to make me nervous when he’s flying towards my face. It’s very hard to subdue a dog when there are six girls screaming and a tv blaring. I managed to get my body clear of his teeth. It took a good ten minutes to get him out of the red zone that time. So that was the not so fun part..lol.

Monday was a rest day for me.  I didn’t work on my house at all. Nope. I took myself to Starbucks and grabbed a venti Iced Coffee (a deviation from my norm) then went home to stretch out on the couch. Of course my brain didn’t want to cooperate at all..running 110mph. Dad brought home the Might Ducks movie (throwback to my childhood) and we had a Mighty Ducks marathon. HILARIOUS! I did manage to catch a nap during the second one.

I packed up a good bit of stuff to move to my house. Everything is now sorted, boxed and labelled by room :)

Since my brain wasn’t tired, I decided to go ahead and knock out my grad school work for this week. Figured that would be one less thing to stress over :) So it’s turned in, I’ve made A’s on everything so far and I’m chugging along :)

My little soccer team has their first practice tonight! Can’t wait :)

Because I’m happy.. #WeekendWrapUp

So I’m happy! Like ridiculously, insanely happy :)

I’ve done a horrible job of blogging lately my dears..I apologize..I shall attempt to catch up :) Top 10 things you missed in Lemon’s life..

1 – I spent the week babysitting my best friend’s dog. He’s in the middle of finishing his last rotate at med school and needed to be able to study. So Heidi the Rottweiler and I spent some quality time together. I’ve been keeping Heidi since she was a puppy. Let me tell you..you haven’t met a Daddy’s girl till you meet her. She loves her daddy..she could care less about me lol :) She’s an angel around me if he’s home and Satan’s spawn when he’s not. Little does she know I film her mischievousness and send it to her daddy! This week she successfully chewed 4 plastic planters to pieces and killed a frog.  While I was hanging out with Heidi, I had some time to crank out some more bangles for the shop! Here’s a preview of some that will be listed soon.

2 – I’ve been working on my tan..and failing miserably. I fell asleep on the float in the pool only to roll off of it into the water..talk about having a sputter moment. Thankfully, I was only in the shallow end :)

3 – CHARLOTTE!! Not the city..the dog :) In case you haven’t figured out yet..I love to dog sit. I’m crazy about dogs..I can’t really stand cats..but I LOVE LOVE LOVE a dog. Charlotte and I went for some adventures this past weekend. She went on her first run with me. She successfully hunted up a dead possum, dead bird, dead squirrel and a dead cat..so apparently her nose is working just fine..

4 – I’ve lost weight..I have been really stressed the last 4 weeks and the scales were letting me know. I’m an emotional eater. I’ll confess..I use food to placate myself in situations I can’t control…which only makes life worse. I hadn’t been able to get my runs in which was only adding to my being stressed out..But! In the last two weeks I’ve dropped 12.5 lbs. It’s amazing what eating properly and getting sleep will do for you :) I’m running again and I can tell you my runs feel better than ever.

5 – It’s blueberry season on our farm. I’ve been picking them and picking them..so many blueberries! Mom and I had fun Sunday afternoon chatting and picking away :)

6 – I spent the 4th of July night doing absolutely nothing and it was fabulous..Charlotte and I hung out at the house and watched Christmas movies on the Hallmark Chanel (THANK YOU HALLMARK!!!). She did not like the fireworks at all. She hid in her crate most of the night or buried her head under my shoulder..it was kind of cute. I made her some popcorn to help ease her distress. It’s one of her favorite foods :) We also made some organic dog/people oatmeal cookies. I substituted applesauce in hers and used Greek yogurt in mine. She loved them!!! She hasn’t been eating the past two weeks..I think the heat overwhelms her. But she ate most of her treats :) I even got her to eat some of her dog food. Made me feel a little bit better that she was eating.

7 – I BOUGHT A HOUSE! For those of you who have been following my journey into home ownership you can sigh a sigh of relief. It’s been such an uphill battle! But I have no doubt in my mind that this is the house I was supposed to buy. The more the owner and I talked at the closing the more it clarified that God had brought me to this house. The Wilson’s lived in this house for 40 years :) I’m proud to call their home my new home. There is a sense of love when you walk into the house. I can feel the years of happiness they spent there. We closed on my house July 3rd at about 7pm. I’m so thankful for a lawyer and seller who were patient enough to turn this girl’s dream into a reality. Buying a house was one of the top five things on my 30 before 30 list :) It’s a huge step for me and one I’m quite proud of. There aren’t too many people in their mid-2o’s who can say they own a house. I spent the weekend ripping up carpet to get to original hardwood floors. I was worried about what shape they would be in but they were in fabulous shape! God is good! All I’m going to have to do is lightly sand them and apply a new top coat :) I started removing the wallpaper in my bathroom so hopefully I’ll wrap that up this week!

It’s so exciting. I finally feel like I have roots..which is a HUGE thing for this nomad girl. I’ve moved 24 times in 26 years. This move will be #25..and hopefully the last for a while. It’s hard for me to relate to people who haven’t traveled a lot or lived in one place their entire lives. I’m starting to make new friends and get involved in the community. So life is good :)

8 – My favorite boy is home…ahhh…he makes my cardiac muscle pump blood through my vascular system really quickly. I’ve missed him! He’s been super busy with school so we haven’t gotten to talk a lot. He popped into Starbucks Sunday night as the girls and I were hanging out after church. Thankfully, he joined us and got to meet two of my dearest friends. It was a little awkward but the girls made it a ton of fun! We talked until Starbucks closed :) Typical for us. He wanted to see my new house so we drove over to have a look. I was a little nervous because I really wanted him to like it. AND HE DID! Made my heart happy to have his approval :)

9 – I started making stuff again :) I’ve been going through a creative lul lately..most likely due to all of the stress…but I’ve started working with wire and I love it. My dear friend has a bangle business and she was kind enough to show me how to make some! I’ve been whipping them up left and right. It feels good to make things. Check them out in my Etsy shop! https://www.etsy.com/shop/LemonRainDrop I’ll be adding some more this week. I also do custom orders! If you have something in mind let me know :) I’d love to make a bangle for you!

10 – I wrestled goats :) We share a back pasture with our neighbor whose donkeys & goats I was watching this week. 3 momma goats gave birth to some little hooligans. One of them made a mad escape Tuesday night and it was quite the comedy watching my other neighbor and myself chase the little rascal down. It took us 40 minutes to catch the little booger but we did :) I will say I was glad he got out..because he ran allllllll the way around the fence and I found a momma goat who had gotten caught. The grass is always greener on the other side of the fence and she got her thick skull stuck. Needless to say..the baby goat earned a name..we’re calling him Houdini :)

So that’s my life in a nut shell :)

What have all of you been up too? Fill me in!
