Catch Up!

God has been doing some amazing things in my life this year! Just to catch you up:

January: I went to a Converge Conference at Myrtle Beach and God really laid on my heart that I was supposed to do something for Him this summer.  I didn’t really know where I was going or what He wanted me to do.  I prayed and committed myself to go wherever He decided to send me.

I heard a missionary from Alaska speak and I cried through most of her presentation. The hurt and desperation of the women of Alaska came across the miles.  I wanted to go and help so I decided to see what kind of summer missions opportunities they had.

February: My BCM leader asked me if I had filled out my application for BCM summer missions. I went online, found the Alaska job description, and applied. The catch was we had to pick 3. So I choose Alaska, Baltimore, and Florence,SC.

Went for my missions interview in Columbia, SC, Mr. Ken tells us that the Baltimore trip is full, but there is this need for a team to go to Nova Scotia.  The more he told us about Nova Scotia the quicker my heart beat.  I knew that was what I was supposed to do for the summer. I prayed (really really hard) and went in for my interview. It started off well (I was a little bit nervous!).  After talking for awhile, Cliff asked me if I had ever thought about going to Nova Scotia, and I got really excited.  (I have always wanted to go to Nova Scotia ever since I read the Anne of Green Gables books!) So I told them I would love to go, that I really thought that God could utilize my talents there. Interview over and I went home.

After a very suspenseful weekend, I rushed over to BCM first thing after class on Monday. Thankfully I caught Mr. Kendall right before he walked out the door. He sat me down and said well how do you fell about Nova Scotia? (okay little mini me is screaming and jumping up and down like crazy right now) I calmly replied that I would love to go and he said good cause that’s where your going.  :) JUMPING UP AND DOWN EXCITED !

March: BCM was going on a mission trip to Baltimore, and I really wanted to go.  So I prayed and trusted God to provide the money.  Well, I went into work one day and Joseph hands me an envelope with my name on it.  Inside the envelope was the exact amount I needed to go to Baltimore. God is soo good. No name, no note, just God answering my prayer :)

End of March, I am asked to join the BCM Leadership Team for 2009 – 2010 as their Fellowship and In-reach Leader.

April: We just finished up our HUB weekend in Winnsboro. It was an awesome weekend of fellowship for BCM Leadership Teams across the state. Our leadership team got to bond and really grow together as a team.

We had our commissioning service for summer missionaries and leadership teams. It was amazing to see how many college students answered the call to serve God in the US and overseas. From SC we have 34 going through the N.A.M.B., I.M.B., and B.C.M. We are going to Baltimore, Peru, Nova Scotia, Louisville, Connie Maxwell, Nepal, Bangladesh, Philippines, and Low Country, SC.

We spent the rest of the weekend at Camp La Vida where we had a ball of fun being oriented into missions and life on the mission field.  We got to bond with our teammates and meet the rest of the summer missionaries. It was such a great time of fellowship, encouragement, and fun:)

Now the end of the semester is approaching quickly and it seems as though all of these assignments are coming out of nowhere. But God is good and He is giving me the strength I need to succeed. Pray that I finish out well!

Pray for all of our summer missionaries, our trip to Nova Scotia(we will be gone for 7 weeks), pray for God to supply the funds for our summer missions, and pray that we grow spiritually.

Catch Ya Later!
